I am Hans, the one to blame for nipponcycles!
The site is about my collection of Japanese steel bikes and about a couple of other, mostly Japan-related topics. The bikes presented on the site are actually ridden by my wife and myself on our daily commute and on weekend outings.
It is mostly classic bikes from the era between 1985 and 1995 that are teasing out my collector’s genes. Back in the day, Japan was the world’s factory for many production lines including those of the cycling industry. Bicycle engineering had advanced to a point that makes models of this vintage perfectly usable even today. Shimano and SunTour had brought indexed shifting to maturity, frame building of chromoly steel tubes reached its zenith.
