Hi, I am Hans, the guy running this place.
At the heyday of lugged steel bikes, before aluminum became the norm in framebuilding, I was a schoolboy, student, and young professional. It was the time between the mid-1970s and the mid-1990s. Some trusty steeds from back then are still serving me today, on weekend outings and for running errands.
Japanese Brands such as Bridgestone, Fuji, Kuwahara, Panasonic, Shimano, and SunTour shaped the era’s bike standards. Some of the technology we take for granted today can be traced back to their innovations, e.g. the slant parallelogram derailleur, indexed shifting, or dual-control levers that combine shifting and braking function.
